Nocturne
Inspired by Nocturne in e minor (opus 72, no 1) by Chopin The sorrow of a harmony Never heard by it's intended The tears I shed cascade In torrents I can't bring myself to look Into the starless expanse The blanket of night weighing heavy I could lay there With an eternal trickle of memories That flash and fade Overlaying sadness Onto my bereft soul The need to cry out Into the empty night That yearning, without solace Nothing in existence Can relieve my pain I begin and I end in the long night By befores have been subsumed My tomorrow's without meaning For I cannot chase what was never real Just I and the bleak emptiness Of emotion that travels to My fingertips And ends there In the vacuum With tears that fall One by one Never to be dried Never to stop I yearn for delusion To relieve me from the pain Attached to the shadows Lost in a mist Of the evaporating tears that I have shed The most amazing thing happened in relation to this poem. I was inspired after watching a gentleman called Liam play it on television yesterday for a show called The Piano. I wrote the poem in the 15 or so minutes wait time to collect my daughter from Guides. Today Liam was a visiting artist where I had an art class and I got to tell him how he had inspired me to listen to Chopin. He is a wonderful man and it was nice to be able discuss how seeing him play inspired me. I had no knowledge I'd ever meet him but it was really beautiful. Then I chatted with a VIP in relation to the lino print I've done and shown her the poem connected to it (Filigree) and it's going to go on display in a gallery. Lovely day that really gave me faith in myself
