I Once Met a Woman
I once met a woman Who is a rock of strength She would break the wind And go to any length With every single word She could cut you open Even without a sword For her spirit was unbroken I once met a woman She is exemplary And kind and gentle too Everything I could ask for And much, much more I once met a woman Who was broken Every single stage Of hell she’s stood on I once met a woman Who lost everything She’s mourned many times A cry that made rivers slow And time stop, until the only thing you could hear Was her heart’s hollow echo It makes me wonder how Is she standing, how is she here Where does she find the valiance to keep going Where does she find hope when there’s nothing I once met a woman Who gave me everything Even when she didn’t have anything Who covered my ears To not hear shots Who covered my eyes To not see blood Who tried to cover my heart That, he broke I once met a woman Whose nursery rhymes were like no other Whose cradle soothed oceans And hushed the fiercest thunder Her lullabies whispered secrets To the moon and stars above I'll never forget the magic Of the woman whose heart is love All of that she still is, my mom.
