Ripples of Music
The music Ripples through my soul Each note played On the lone acoustic Your eyes closed In the middle of the stage I watch you, absolutely entranced As your fingers work their way across the strings The shadows of your long lashes on your face Your dark hair scattered lightly on your head The melody of this song carries me Through the memories Like a quilted pattern of emotions A string of sadness intertwined with a fine line of anger Your song weaves it's way into my head Down to my heart and all around me I might drown in it... Your guitar took half of the song for intro But I can tell when you are readying to sing Although I wish you hadn't The guitar had pierced me far too much I see your chest rise as you pull in the air And then your voice... beautiful... fills the room It complements the dark tune... but scares me Your first dark yet luscious words sting "How could you..." Was all you said, three words And then you strummed softly some more The words echoing in my head surrounded by the dark music You finish the song with one heavy yet soft minor chord It fills the room, and then silently escapes Leaving me breathless You stand, not even bowing, and walk across the empty stage Disappearing into the blackness I feel tears under my skin Rushing up to my eyes threatening to cut loose And I let them... They slide down my face as I draw in quiet sobs I feel the mascara coating my face Your song rings in my mind And reverberates through my heart...
