Brokenhearted
The shattering of a heart when being broken is the loudest quiet ever ~ Carroll Bryant Once, as a toddler, first uncovering the miracle of tottering upon my own two legs, feet eager and anxious – I stumbled – then, I was brokenhearted Once, as a child, pleading For my first horseback ride, There was a mixture of fear And, then tears, when I fell off – then, I was Brokenhearted Once, as a teen, attempting To understand the meaning of love, Kissing the first time, Impatient to find the hunger I lost him – to another, then, I was Brokenhearted Once, as a woman, realizing Life means more than just dreaming, Joy comes to those who listen To the kindness, the sensitivity, I worried – then, I found myself Brokenhearted Once, as I struggled for the chance To know what it means to Know grace that is real, hope That heals and love that fulfills I lost my faith in others and then, I was Brokenhearted Once, as I learned to give my best With an openness that exposes Even the darkness and the distress, All the wonders of feelings, blessings I was discouraged – doubted – then, Brokenhearted Once, I knew what it is to love Without conditions, completely With a love that is sure – it Completes me with its tenderness And, because I could give without expectations…. My heart was restored with the assurance That love this strong, love that silences Every wrong – is a love that goes on… It is eternal, like God’s song to those who know He mends every broken heart who gives Him The faith, believing in His wisdom and grace, Freeing the soul to the wonder of His marvelous embrace!
