Desert, Wilderness, Storm
THE DESERT THE WILDERNESS THE STORM I am parched, my back is arched, my body racked with pain, Nothing green in sight, my thirst, my plight, eyes playing tricks on me again. An illusion of rest beside still waters, yet never reaching the glimmer cross the desert plain. My strength abated, feeling deflated, yet I raise me up again. I cry aloud, my throat near closed, sores on the soles of my feet, “Lord please have mercy, my God forever, lest I’ll die within this heat!” Then I beheld, before me there, a green and lively place, Great leaves of shelter, holding water, And I’m soon burying my whole face. Oh joyful day, I thank my Lord, for the answer to my prayer, Just in time, was sure this time, I could live and thrive right there. But soon the stinging, biting, bleeding, the cruel elements too harsh for me, I’m now running, for the hunting, seen as prey for what was hunting me. Barely escaping, great leaves now draping hiding, and covering me, Bruised and bleeding from the climbing, the height of this great tree. Soon I’m crying, weeping, bawling, fear of falling to the ground. The momentary safety, how long the waiting, until by the beasts I’m found. “Oh my Lord, Have you abandoned me; why hast thou forsaken me? I then brave the moment, prepared to be eaten, as I finally came down from the tree. Shocked and determined, I just kept going... thanking my God for sparing my life. Made a sling with rocks, and a stone sharpened, into a survivor’s hunting knife. Now never ending hiking, and diligently searching, for a place to call my home. There before me, a boat a floating, ending my tiresome roam. Dragged myself in, with my meager belongings, to the boat on the shore on the bless’sed sea, By faith began rowing, not sure where I was going, with one oar, where only God would now lead. I thanked Him again for His faithful provision, soon darkness swallowed the day, I affixed now my eyes, upon the moon and stars, the only light shining my way. And now right before a dawning, dark clouds spawning. engulfing the dismal orange skies, I’m now fearing the storm now brewing, winds so strong I close my eyes. Losing my oar, my hands now gripping, each splintery, slippery side. My boat now spinning, seemingly never ending, through the lightening and thundering, I now cried. “Oh Lord my God, I trust in you! Deliver me from this storm! Lead me to, a place of safety, somewhere safe and warm! You brought me out of a blazing desert, in the wilderness you provided and protected me! You haven’t brought me this far, to leave me, and to die so hopelessly!” “But whether I live or die, my Lord, I will bless your holy name, In misery or comfort, I know you love me, you are my God just the same.” I then laid me now, face completely down, awaiting my horrible fate, So tired my body gave into the falling, of a sleeping unconscious state. I don’t know how long, that I was sleeping, but I awakened to a constant bump, Couldn’t believe my eyes, my boat was tied, and brushing against a stump. Bright skies above, gracing His love, in a great colorful beautiful bow, Softly speaking, “Here is your promise, enter here, now safely go.” On a hill, a great house stood, and I entered through the opened door. There I found my name was written, saying “My child cry no more.” “Here you will thrive, not just survive, you’ll be comforted and warm, for you were faithful when tried in your desert, and in your wilderness, and storm.” Now let my story, though told in parable, May it minister faith to you... To know that God is good, and He is faithful Whatever you’re going through. You may feel you’re all alone, Left in the desert, the wilderness or storm. But He’ll soon bring you to your place of destiny, Your purpose for which you were born.
