How Poetry Died
“I’m in a giant hurry, no time to communicate!” The poet said, as he tried to reach others, still snoring in bed, late! He snuggled under the covers, an answer to find. “What’s the shortest comment or reply to make, I am going blind!” So, he decided, on an answer, most curious. “In a reply, I will just use a plus sign, no name, too bad, if they are furious!” But it soon became the rage of the poetry site. The faster, the better…only…true communication was lost………what a sad plight! Poems were then shrunk to an odious “fingernail” size! As if neither poet nor poem, had a worthwhile human guise. “Speed, speed, is our most auspicious need.” The art form, the respect for others, they did not heed! They were like pumped up car racers, wanting to make the daily “most “comments or replies first. And in so doing, poetry, the art of writing, including commenting, replying….gone forever like a dead ghost. The library held poetry of great women and men. But it would never hold race track poets like them. A few found fabulous sites, where they were not choked by races and time. Where poetry, comments and replies were honored! And…..no time clock, robbed them, or made them into nothing more them mimes! 12/5/2022
