The Big Stage
Here I am standing on the empty stage looking at all the shadows around me, shadows of the past, shadows of the present and shadows of the future. They appear from all corner of the stage and take up their position and stood quietly waiting for the cue. Everything was quiet while the world waits in silence, with shadows twirling around on the big stage, the energy and something resonates from the deep and move slowly towards me. The flood lights came on with a bang and I find myself singing a new song. My voice bellows at the back of the theatre and penetrate the roof tearing off layers of curtain from the wing and ushering a sweet melody in. Thousand of shadows seated in the theatre, the dress Circe had some unusual guest, I could not see them but I could feel them. The Orchestra was over booked and the balcony kept filling up and the shadows were sipping from a golden cup. It’s theatre at its best. A bright spot light spilled from the auditorium and color the stage and the overhead lights filled the dress circle with grace. Assorted colors emerged from within, coloring the word and the message that resonates from the deep. The drums begin to roll, the key board is set on course and the prelude begins to start the long awaited show. Suddenly a headless shadow appeared on stage in an eighteen twelve bell foot pants, dancing around without a head and holding a bouquet of flower to reminisce the dead .It did not scare me at all, it only made me feel tall; a headless man fell from the roof with a blank page strapped to the bottom of his shoes. It was a suicide note. Here I am standing on the empty stage looking at the vast world around me, a giant ball is swinging above my head and I am gazing at horizon. It’s beautiful out there and I have so much to share but destiny lingers on and courage kept pushing me on. The cheers and laughter starts fading in and the shadows began to take on human shape, filling the theater with grace. There were more than sixteen thousand of them in the audience and me alone standing center stage, the screams and shouts get louder when I walked upstage. I suddenly felt an arm around me and moisture on my lips the orchestra began with a bang and world embrace me in its arms. The stage lights fade, the house lights came up and we took a graceful bow and so it is that I have made my debut on the big stage. I can still hear the screaming and shouting and the big orchestra rolling while we walk together towards the sound of the flute way-out yonder. We gazed at the warm lights around the colors had me spell bound and finally I flew out of this culture rich town but I am still standing on the big stage.
