Great and Treasured Moments
It was a Thanksgiving family get-together, and the conversation moved from one subject to another. At this point, the mother, Susan, was with the girls in another room. The father, Charles, was with their two sons in the kitchen. Somehow the subject matter switched to achieving things in life. Charles said, "When I look back over time, I am not satisfied with my accomplishment". "Dad! said Steven. What on earth do you mean by that?" "Yea dad", said Cal, the younger son. "You have to explain that to us". Charles said, "Well guys, I thought that I was going to be a great teacher and also have enough funds to put your sister Peggy and you guys through college. I thought that your mom and I would be able to retire with a comfortable pension and never have to lean on you guys for support." "Dad, dad. Stop it right there", said Cal with Steven in perfect agreement. "You and mom have helped so many people all across this country. We were there. We saw you feeding and clothing the poor, and sharing Christ with them. You have given so much of yourselves". I looked at them both with a 'Wow'! face, saying to myself, "They really got it". Their mom had eased into the kitchen, and as I glanced in that direction, I saw her standing at the sink. She had also heard our boys, and we smiled with joyful elation. As we were raising them, our kids were watching and listening. They were observing our every move and digesting what we were feeding them, sometimes unaware by us. I tell you, that was a God Moment that will never be forgotten. That moment was so powerful that I was to never see them nor myself the same again. 111822PSCtest, A BRIAN STRAND PREMIERE CHOICE.
