Where Have All the Fireflies Gone
Where have all the fireflies gone? Could be riding on flakes of white Winter’s chill is not their delight Summer inspirations for July song. Could be riding on flakes of white ‘Twere it Mother Nature’s bidding [Understand, I’m merely kidding] I can’t imagine the fireflies’ plight. ‘Twere it Mother Nature’s bidding Flakes of white might July embrace And fireflies light upon one’s face In mid-winter, I’m still only kidding. Flakes of white might July embrace The sun would scarcely cooperate Then what would be a flake’s fate? Or a firefly’s landing upon my face? The sun would scarcely cooperate Seems Mother Nature’s still in charge The fireflies know, as do flakes of snow So, what is there really to debate? Written November 16, 2022
