Repaired With Gold
Repaired with gold By Michelle Morris 02/11/2022 I'm not sorry that I cared for you I'm not sorry that I was your friend I gave my very best to you I was loyal to the end The bitterness of your betrayal Took me a long time to overcome I had to work through a lot of anger Feeling stupid for being so trusting I thought you were my best friend forever But you never considered me this way I thought that we were closer But you were just playing a battle game I realise in retrospect That I purposefully ignored the signs I kept giving you a pass Every single time you lied You took my love for granted My kindness and generosity You enjoyed all the drama That your deceptions seeded Still, I'm not sorry I cared for you For I realised that I was a friend so true I can only have compassion And forgiveness for your cruelty Life lessons and experience Have taught me much in this life And for you to treat me so badly You have to feel pretty low about yourself So, I forgive, but will remember And accept the lessons cold These scars on my heart and soul Are forever repaired with gold © Michelle Morris, 2022
