The Letter To My Father-Nw
I wrote a letter to my father; He didn't make it 'cause he couldn't. It was my day of graduation, How I wished he could be there. "I got four distinctions and I was Named the student of the year. I made it to the top And dad you made me who I am. I'd love to buy you a car, dad, And build our home a big house too. I'm also gonna make sure that my sister Ends up right here where I am. You should've seen the smile on mama's face, When the principal called my name. You should've seen the tears in her eyes— Maybe they'd be tears of joy. I never told you that I love you, I never told you that I care. Maybe when you left we were too young That we could say that to your face. We didn't see you quite often As we stare at your picture on the wall. I never knew I should've hugged you Like the picture on my chest. I'd send this note just straight to you If I knew it where you went. But as I stand beside your grave I'm gonna leave the note right here..." "I'm gonna leave the note right here" That was the last line of my letter. So I left the note right there And turned around and went back home. But the letter as I turned back, I guess it's never meant to be. 'Cause before I took my walk The wind just blew it out my sight 30 October 2022 For A NOTE IN THE WIND Poetry Contest Sponsored by Charles Messina
