Red Carpet Treatment
I was a professional landscaper, with passion for nature, and a green thumb, Like passions of smothering, dreamy nighttime, to which we gladly succumb. My work took me to many gardens, set in the butterscotch zones of summer, As the music with its rhythmic beat, benefits from an accomplished drummer. I loved being able to generate beauty, with the help of lavish, Mother Nature, Whose colors are always perfectly matched and blended, through hush labor. I enjoyed my own house's gardens, my pretty haven, of most adored flowers, And robins, shade trees and evergreens, like joys of drought ending showers. I loved lounging on my south porch, to watch the changing, fruitful seasons, Like endless, beauteous, black nights, that lend to waiting, so many reasons. And ofttimes, as a season departed, it took with it a little piece of my heart, As languishing blooms are soon wilting, if a golden sun for too long departs. Every day was a new dramatic chapter, in a never ending tale of my garden, Like striking, talented winged birds, lending songs rather than empty jargon. Every season had its own special beauty, like the smoky beauty of a sunset, Or a transient rainbow's vanishing act, leaving an impression hard to forget! But one thing that intrigued me especially, was each season's natural carpet, Cherry blossom petals and new grass in spring, under sunny skies of apricot. And with summer came red rose petals, tall grasses, and jade pine needles, As if vibrancy colors, and textures of nature, had found they have no equals. Then beautiful, hued, leafy carpets of autumn, absolutely not to be outdone, Along with the last of the blooms, 'til carpets of powdery snow came sudden! I also loved to walk among myriad wildflowers, nature's scented daredevils, Singing softly to the mellow sunshine, and fluttering their languorous petals. My brother was an outdoors enthusiast, and gardening captivated my sister, As myriad stars captivate our fine sight, solely with their faraway, hot glitter. With friends and family, I danced down the days, with life leading the steps, Until the starry night, I had a strange dream, like a reality magic intercepts! I dreamed I was walking on a carpet of leaves, so thick, and of deepest red, That it turned into a magic carpet, taking me to skies, where sun lately bled. What a feeling of wild exhilaration, a feeling of being one with joyful nature, Like joyous, daisy sunshine, after the flood, leaving only a hint of the danger! Evergreen Nature is a gracious hostess, laying down lovely, seasonal carpets, Like the lavish, plush one I rode one night, after flaming skies turned scarlet. I rode for many miles that evening, with a clear view of the stars and moon, Like redbirds persistently singing, through the hot, languorous hour of noon!
