Halloween Nightmare
HALLOWEEN NIGHTMARE I was walking through the churchyard at the dead of night. I had often used the short cut and never had a fright. But this time it was different, an experience obscene, For I had forgotten that tonight was Halloween. The silence soon was shattered by an eerie banshee wail As from behind a gravestone rose a figure gaunt and pale. Was I hallucinating or was the creature real? And then I saw a vampire, craving a liquid meal I turned and, right behind me, emitting mournful groans, A hideous zombie army, skin hanging from their bones. I screamed in terror, ran towards the churchyard gate. But it was to no avail; the Grim Reaper stood in wait. So now I was surrounded, my heart was full of dread. No point in calling out for help, the residents were dead. Hands up in surrender, I stood and conceded defeat As with screams of maniacal laughter, they shouted, “Trick or treat.” 14th October 2022 12-16 Lines of a Scary Halloween Rhyme Sponsor - Tania Kitchin
