Chapter 1 Poetry Contest
The soft sand covers my feet as I step, sinking further as I walk closer toward the raging sea as I begin to ask myself many questions as I ponder thoughts, Why now? Why here? What has happened? I am so confused as I look out toward the blue horizon of nothing except a few small Islands filled with peaceful palm trees. It is nearly noon as the heat beats down on me and I feel the full force of summers breathe. I must move quickly, I can't stay out in the open sky like this, I must gather my things and find a cool place to rest until things get better. There are some voices through the clustered jungle but they do not sound very friendly and as I make my way to rest there is a loud bang that causes some fright within me. I quickly turn to hide under some ferns and thick shrub using the jungle to camouflage me and my things. As I lay quiet and silent, I see a man walking away from where the loud noise had come from tucking away what looked like some sort of pistol and I quickly remember seeing that same man on the boat arguing with another man about something hidden somewhere.
