I Wandered Lonely As a Cat
"I wandered lonely as a cloud", William Wordsworth I wandered lonely as a cat And grew weary of chasing rats. I'm not fond of killing lizards, And squirrels are like wizards. For the longest time, it seemed That no one knew, not even a few. But it was as clear to me as the morning dew. It wasn't the food that I wanted most. I grew tired of resting against the posts. Most cats my age have a home of their own Where they find love. But I am homeless, And no one seems to care or understand That I am as harmless as a dove. I keep searching and hoping as I roam From street to street in search of a Human friend to keep me shielded from Summer heat. Like other cats, I need a Home to shelter me from the winter storm. When I was young, my mother was killed While protecting me from harm. After that, My three siblings scattered, doing their best To survive. I miss my family, and perhaps I shall see them again; but if not, I hope and Pray that they will learn to carry on and thrive. One day, I too would love to have a family. I'd be as protective and lovely as my mother. But presently, having a family is not a priority. I'm not jealous when I see cats, dogs, and Other pets in nice homes. I'm tired of roaming, And a home of my own is the thing for which I long. 091822PSCtest, I Wandered Lonely As --- Challenge. Natasha L Scragg
