Sage of Wild Cane
Benjamin was his name He holds the torch of his fame On a place where natives dwell Faraway across the hill In his years he was a captain But to the tribes he was a chieftain; On the place where wild canes grow He was praised like a hero For five decades he held his crown With the light of his wisdom He was a ruler in his own realm Where the upright revered his charm He charmed the hearts of the council With the brilliance of his counsel; He held the flames of justice In a way where there could be peace He pacified the hearts that fight With the flames of his wisdom He led his people and ruled them right In his minute kingdom He sent message to those who slay That taking lives is not the way For his grace reigns in those who yield In those who turn the other cheek But in the year where tigers reign The angels came with an omen, The sage with heart and brain Walked his way to heaven But his wisdom made a mark The path was tamed by his spark His blood came forth to make a track May they serve with good remark In memory of my 2nd degree grandfather Benjamin and my childhood place of Lidlidda, named after wild canes
