Catonita Strikes - Part Two: a Freezer Mice Adventure
Continued from ‘CATONITA STRIKES - PART ONE’ A Freezer Mice adventure When no-one was around they did the finger-clicking thing And grew to human size in time for what the day might bring Their guns were charged and ready and with sliders set to ‘KILL’ But Cody had a plan that needed finger-clicking skill They took the car and made for where the monster cat was sighted Pulled up beneath a sycamore and speedily alighted A group of panicked people ran right by and told them, “RUN! A massive tiger’s coming and its tail shoots like a gun.” The Freezer Mice and Dann stood side by side across the road And then, with phaser guns and pistol, up the road they strode A double decker London bus crash landed in their path And Dann said, “We can’t beat her, she will look at us and laugh.” Cody said, “There is a way, we've done it once before.” But Churchill looked at Crocket and their spirits hit the floor. “Tell me you’re not thinking of the ‘appetiser ruse’” Cody asked, “Have you another option we could choose?” Churchill turned to Dann and said, “I guess I should explain. He wants a Catonita to devour us again. The plan is fairly simple but for that to save our soul, that kitty mustn’t munch us but must gulp us straight down - whole.” Cody said, “The creature now rampaging through your town, is the creature that once came and took your mammoths down. Back then she'd sever chunks that were compact enough to eat, but when you’re not a mammoth you’re a morsel or a treat. ‘If, like us, you could assume the stature of a shrew, her paws become a shovel and she’ll simply swallow you.” The freezer mice clicked fingers and shrunk right before his eyes And Dann looked down upon his friends of much diminished size They laid their weapons down and Churchill said, “We won’t need these, at this tiny size they will not bring her to her knees.” They huddled in the road just as the rabid cat appeared And yet, as she approached, the Freezer Mice seemed un-afeared Cody told the Doc to hide and stay completely quiet, “Doc, if we don’t make it, then it’s been a proper riot.” Stanley said, “Stand fast my friends, pray God you shall prevail. I wish I understood your plan, this monster to assail.” He ran and hid behind the sycamore but then he saw He’d left the tiny phasers lying back there on the floor There wasn’t any time now to correct that oversight Catonita had arrived and looked set for a fight Catonita swished her tails like she was wafting flies She crouched down low and slinked toward her canapé sized prize Why those brainless mice just stood around and didn’t run She didn’t know but that was never gonna spoil her fun Churchill, feigning levity, said, “Should’ve kept our phasers. Could have took the edges off those rodent munching razors. Just make sure to keep away from all those jagged teeth. To do this once was mad, to try it twice - beyond belief.” With Catonita drooling, forming puddles at their feet Churchill said, “The time has come, this cats about to eat.” Catonita swept them up, her swipe was lightening fast Their sharp intake of breath could very likely be their last They cartwheeled in the air as though a coin that just got flipped Till gravity took over and their journey upwards dipped From this point on for Freezer Mice there could be no escape They plunged toward the feline and her jaws were wide agape With a single swallow Catonita gulped them down And in her stomach lay the only hope for London Town No one knew for certain if she knew that she’d been tricked But Catonita’s end game came with fingers being clicked The Freezer Mice expanded and the swelling split her sides Catonita tried to run in laboured painful strides Crawling from her abdomen three man sized Freezer Mice Called out to Doctor Stanley Dann, “Doc, put this cat on ice!” Dann leapt from his hiding place to grab the nearest phaser All were now full size again, he set the mode to laser The laser severed tails to Catonita’s final wails But only with nine severed did the wind go from her sails The ruptured beast with one life failing and none in reserve Lashed out with wildly flailing claws it’s bid to self preserve Churchill fetched his phaser and he turned its brains to foam And then he said, “I’m sorry Puss, you should have stayed at home!” An army jeep screeched to a halt, three soldiers eyed the cat One said, “Doctor Dann, are you responsible for that?” He said, “Stand clear from them there mice, they could endanger you.” And Churchill and his friends all shouted, “We’re not mice, we’re shrew.” The soldier raised his weapon and said, “This way if you please.” He didn’t know three phasers all had sliders set to freeze Cody raised his phaser and said, “Sir, you’re such a tease. Now put your weapon down or share a drawer with frozen peas.” ***EPILOGUE*** Back in Stanley Dann’s house Churchill said, “I’m glad that’s done.” And Dann said, “There are better ways to have a little fun. I don’t ever want to see another snarling beast, I’ve had my fill of monsters for a year two at least.” Crocket shrugged. “But now we must find Canis Millident.” Dann gasped. “Another vicious monster… is that what you meant? A dog that has a thousand teeth, Please tell me it’s a pup.” So Crocket said, “Hey Stanley, you’re so easy to wind up.”
