What Was Then For We
So, listen to the songs of your children. Watch their eyes when they tell of dreams. See their smiles when they are happy. Love their innocence. Cherish your little beings. We have broken something that isn’t ours. We, yes you and me. Our creation is of a kind like Dr Frankenstein’s yet ours has no bolts, limbs or skin. We have created something of a monster. Not in the wardrobe or under the bed. We have given your children a future. A future that we should feel for with dread. Don’t let your children grow up too quickly. Don’t let them see how we and our ancestors have failed. They’ll know soon enough when they don’t see their own children playing in the sunlight, on the beach in the sand. When 40 degrees C becomes 50, they won’t be swimming in the sea. They won’t be spending their days of holiday outside in the fields like what was then for we. So, listen to the songs of your children. Watch their eyes when they tell of dreams. See their smiles when they are happy. Love their innocence. Cherish your little beings.
