Discarded a True Story of Healing
A song by the Allman Brothers, titled Melissa, I was, hearing Sweet Mellisa over and over, while writing this. The Story begins as a teenaged College student is informed by her Doctor that she is pregnant. Her thoughts began to overwhelm her. Thoughts of telling her parents, and afraid, of their reaction. Would they be disappointed in her, or even be angry? A myriad of thoughts developed. She thanked the Dr and headed home. She sat her Mother and Father down, and broke down in tears relating, the results of the Doctors visit. Her mother insisted on aborting the Fetus, she said, "The timing was wrong, and her college and career were more important to finish." "The child would be a great hindrance in her life." Those were her mothers discouraging thoughts. She was falling apart, and sad, as she knew that her mother was adamant about the Abortion, and she insisted on her having it. She pleaded with her mother but there was no resolve. Scared, she gathered enough courage to make it to the clinic. Her heart was torned as she knew her baby's life was going to be terminated. They sedated her and infused a saline solution to terminate her baby's life. The Nurses took her Fetus and Discarded it into a container to Throw away. Hours later one of the nurses heard a faint cry. She realized the Fetus was Alive. They hurried the Fetus into ICU. She Was Alive, but was fighting with every breath of her being, to stay alive, having seizures, and reactions to the Toxic Solution. Her Mom, was not told, she was adopted and was named Mellisa. At the age of fourteen Mellisa found out her parents had tried to abort her. Depression and heartache took over her. Her pain of not being wanted, laid heavy on her heart, for many years. Wanting closure, Mellisa spent a decade trying to find her parents. Mellisa's days of suffering, were about to end, as she finds her birth mom. She was totally emotional, but she needed to resolve her heartache and seek the truth. She found out her dad had died. With her mother, they both broke down, and the rivers of tears began flowing. Melissa learned the truth and realized her mother loved her and did not want to have the abortion. It was comfort to her ears. After thirty years of guilt, not knowing Melissa had lived, her mom's guilt was finally over, and her broken heart began the process of healing. Mellisa and her Mom began the journey of healing together. Read You Carried Me A Daughters Memoir by Mellisa Ohden. Michael Tor
