Background
Background I grew in the village Where huts are the palace Crowned with dry grass With large farms When drought hit Going for days with no food Dirty kitchens and utensils Less firewood from the neighbourhood We met friends at school Which we attended two days a week We became friends because poverty matched Torn uniform and bare feet At home due to school fees Lack of enough books And angry stomachs complain At our free time Promising to change our families Add more for our mothers And improving the life of our fathers Sometimes watching the sun set Was just a movie for the night The moon and stars we played with And thought it was magic Remember the kerosene candle Which we sorrounded at night Everyone to see the letter And of course sometimes beside the fire to read We stepped out of the village Not because we were satisfied But because we had to change that Life was hard and tough That's how we survived and never new the city life Today we are casted out and mocked We got the city with no right Just because we did not find rich parents But the perfect thing is that we are living And here to change the situation So that's why we don't meet the expectations That's why you can persecute us without giving up We cant please the streets We are village boys and girls who know nothing about the town We dont know how things works What we know is what we are up to Just success and change our background Stop accusing and saying more about us We know we bores you and we are sorry! #dafina_cate #sadmemory ©
