Scent From Above
"From deep within my heart I always catch the scent of my Beloved. How can I help but follow that fragrance?" -- Rumi Like a burning in my soul, a glorious scent It lingers in my heart from days of yore, ‘Tis certain it is from highest heaven sent Where my love is still my eternal paramour, She waits for me in the distant beyond Making me aware of her presence still, Bound for all eternity in love’s purest bond Perfume of remembrance is a warming thrill. Every day I miss her most tender embrace To have her near me in moments we shared, To touch her, her lingering kiss on my face Doing things we loved to do, some we dared. That most glorious scent I shall never replace If after all these years, it is merely a trace.
