Strangers
We who meet as strangers, sharing a moment in time A glance of the eyes, a kind word, or a nod of a respectful sign Passing with hardly a notice, chasing life’s busy protocol And if not for cause or chance, it really wouldn’t matter at all Two lives find each other while longing to discover the prize Feelings that deny understanding with stars in flashing eyes Love, that perfect strangers find from the light in a smile Rings of gold join two lives, a match that’s so worth while From all corners of the world where battles for blood are fought Soldiers march in a state of war to stem a great onslaught Strangers’ face-off with terrible cost without ever knowing a name Smashing with violent indifference and a stranger’s life is clamed A stranger can be the greatest friend worth more than the purest gold When a tragedy is held in check, amid tribulation’s gripping hold And in a time of immense distress, a stranger’s arms draw you near Encouraging words are whispered; and quiets the greatest fear ++ +
