My Homeland Today
All is certainly not well in my homeland today Divisive elements with destructive intent, As the middle class is no longer having a say. Rich and powerful forces getting their way Seems no one listens to my “two cents,” All is certainly not well in my homeland today. I’m feeling as though I’ve no way to sway What effect has one vote expressing dissent, As the middle class is no longer having a say. Looking at our institutions, all is not okay Word from politicians say not what is meant All is certainly not well in my homeland today. Still, I am hopeful for a better future day Free from news media’s catastrophic event As the middle class is no longer having a say. Can it be our cherished Republic is in decay? We’ve forgotten the message Liberty sent All is certainly not well in my homeland today As the middle class is no longer having a say. Written June 28, 2022
