My Mother
My mother She was not stable And anybody who knows her, knows She was a woman whom was not capable To care for herself alone She sought a man whom would be able To provide for hers and those Those were her substances Her child Her ever ongoing list of woes Woe me this And woe me that All woes that she chose I am the victim, she screams Convinced that nobody could hear her pleas But what she couldn’t see Is a life that she chose to be She chose to be the woe is me And if nobody could see Than her wrath you will bear Rather it be self pity Or violence Or tears All of the above I fear She sees herself in me And she does not like what she sees But those parts of me Are hers to claim And to her I place the blame A lifetime of projection Will effect your vision Unfortunately she still does not believe How all of this has come to be So she will choose to walk away from me And me she will not see Because seeing me means seeing herself And that’s much to difficult a task For somebody whom is always wearing a mask So from afar I will wait Taking this time to remove her from my plate And work on myself I will do And pray that she does it too Because the day will come When it’s all said and done That she will wish that she was nicer to me
