Freedom of My Childhood
I was born in the wild under the moonlight sky. My playground was nature, my friends the fauna and flora. Chasing deer with my bow and arrow, Learning how to use a spear. My ancestors taught me about every herb and tree. My childhood was good because I was free. Before sunset, I will return home, A warm plate of food was waiting on me. My mum will listen to the stories I experienced. She will smile and said, you are my child. Born to be free, You belong to nature and the wild. When our fathers return after days from hunting, We celebrated it with a feast. Around the fire, we will gather, Listening to their hunting stories. I wished I could hunt with them, But they said hunting is only for men. I had to stay behind with all the women and kids. Learning how to cook and make medicine, And clothes from the animal skin. My people respected nature. And took from her, only what they need. They lived in harmony. Humanity was our principal and never greed. We will always thank her, by dancing. How I wish I was still in the wild. Running free between the animals and trees.
