Commentaries Yes we are saved through grace and it is a gift from God! Therefore we are not able to boast by our good works. Although we are not saved by our works does not mean that God does not want us "work out (our) own salvation's with fear and trembling of our Lord God! "Yes Faith without works is dead! It can mean that unless we do good works our faith is worthless! It is our faith that is dead and not our very own personal salvation's! All because our personal salvation is based upon God's free gift of His grace! We are not saved by our good works! We are not saved by any of our good deeds! We can not earn our way into the kingdom of God! We can buy "the stairway to heaven." "We can buy our way into paradise with a new step every day." "I am the way, the truth and the life, no man (or no woman) comes to the father except through me."James 14:6 "For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord," Romans 6:23 If we have a paying job, we have at least one employer. Our employer pays us a salary for all of the wages which we earn. But these are other wages that we earn. Whenever we sin in thoughts, in words, and/or in deeds, we also earn wages! But these wages of sin is eternal death instead of a paycheck! Even if we do good deeds without being saved. we are still earning our wages of everlasting death and condemnation. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life. " John 3:16! Once we are saved or born again, all of our good deeds are stored up for us in the kingdom of God! And these wages will earn us crowns and rewards in the kingdom of heaven. However, if we do our good works to receive rewards for them, by men and women! We already have our rewards! All because we are lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God Almighty! That does not mean if we have earned earthly rewards we are not to receive them. But we should know earthly rewards are only temporary and not permanent! In other words, "we can't take them with us."
