Nature Waits, Not Man
Nature loves to wait with a quiet will— Sloth bears linger, snails seem no short of time, Polar bears hibernate in snowy chill, ‘Let it be, wait' its flair forever prime. For winter’s chill waits sun, snow sets awhile, In doldrums of hot June slumber’s no crime, Whilst winter whispers under frozen snow: I dream of a thawing far off warm spring. Trees at rest ponder if an inch to grow, Bear fruits of Zen, make a fair offering, In patience bees bring honey in fair clime, Quiet do birds build nests for their nestling, Yea, all Nature chills, be patient, cheery, Why only man need be in a hurry! _______________________________________ Sonnets | 12.07.11, revised April 2022 | Poet’s note: If only man waits as Nature does, ponders on his maddening rat race, would there be all this destruction of Mother Earth? Would there be global warming?
