Invisible Barrier
Do we perform countless roles in our life?                         we do…and we try to perform our best in every challenge that comes our way!               Was it the motivated student graduating with excellent marks,                                         which opened my door to the university?                                                    Was it receiving a medal for a dance recital                                                               I was so passionate about?                                                   Was it the encouraging words from the doctor                                                             when, an inexperienced  mother,                                                              I took great care of my first child?                    often reminisce a tiny picturesque idyllic  village                                                      with lush fields and shady trees,                                                 where I spent a few years of my childhood!                                                             My father had a prestigious job,                                             we were fortunate to have a comfortable life…                                                  a beautiful quaint cottage surrounded                                       by a gorgeous garden of Dahlias and Chrysanthemums -                                                   my visionary father’s creation -                                                     where I used to frolic around merrily,                                                                 feeling like a Princess.                                     But I witnessed what poverty was,                                                   when I joined the only school in the area,                                                   I saw children walking to school barefoot,                                                           and wearing plainest clothes,                                                             from struggling families who                                                   couldn’t afford more than bare necessities.                                      I was too young to understand…                                          but this experience opened eyes of a seven-year old,                                        to the cruelties, to the harsh realities of the world,                                                when I saw children of my age having so little…                                                        but accepting life so graciously!                                                     they looked at me with admiring eyes,                                                         as if I were a Princess, or an alien..                                                                from a different planet!                         It didn’t take long for me to decide my next step.                                                     The next day was a surprise to many...                                                             I walked barefoot to school..                                                        It was hard, but not impossible.                                                         an invisible barrier was lifted..                                            all the children embraced me as their dear friend!                                             Thank my Creator for giving me the opportunity of a lifetime to make things right.
