Her Final Say
She lay silent in her hospital bed Surrounded by light, whispering softly Her worry, pain, sorrow, darkness and dread Long gone, comforter left her awfully Tranquil like the peace of a gentle rain Falling, soundless, on the earth’s tender soil Murmuring calm through the beauty of souls Yearning for the moment when He will reign Laughing hues of grace that will never spoil Knowing death is something our God controls She smiles through watery eyes, reflecting The surprise of a heart who is fading Knowing her final breath is expecting This to be the last one, she’s persuading One more moment, one more smile, more alive She dances to the tune, relishing life Joy falls from her heart and soul, bringing praise Of the One who knows her light will revive When heaven opens the gate, healing strife Pouring out love so strong it does amaze She lingers in the sunset, joy ablaze Her final night, she breathes, she hopes, she prays Even in dreams, she pauses, death delays Into the stars, on the moon, lights will gaze Her last thoughts, her final hope, her last dream Beckon from the silence, softly gasping Memories that blush with beauty and grace Her love, like the wind, kissing a sunbeam Pours through her family, their hands clasping Sure that her memory they will embrace Form O- Ode- New poems Poetry Contest Sponsored by: Constance La France Theme: D) Memory April 28, 2022
