Kind, Like My Mother
Throughout my life, God has been very good to me. For several weeks, through my wife, I had heard 'Raving Reviews' about an older lady. Even so, I don't rightly know why I chose to address her that way. What way? Eighteen years my senior, she was certainly old enough, but it was not only because of her age that I wanted to call her mother. We were worlds apart in so many ways; yet, instinctively, I felt a bond, a unity, a divine connection. Notwithstanding, she did not hesitate to reject whatever notion I had about addressing her as 'Mother'. She was quick to say, "Mother, no; Sister, yes". That has been close to 10 years ago, and each year has drawn her and her family closer to mine. Like my real mother, she is very reassuring and the absolute meaning of 'Kind". I have been blessed with 'a pearl of great price', 'a Mother Lode' in human form that is far more to be treasured than gold. My dear mother passed away 24 years ago. She would be turning 94 on June 18, 2022. Normally, I would be writing these lines about and to her. Much love and tribute are due to this dear lady who is 90 years of age. She has been the closest feeling of a mother than any I have known since my own. I told her so when I last saw her several months ago before we moved away. I am missing her. Like my mother, she believes so deeply in me and offers compliments rather liberally. I shall miss the countless times my wife and I were invited for fellowship and lunch. In her home and presence, I always felt that I could be me, so free and welcomed. She always remembered my birthday. There is so much more, but I must stop. And I must confess that these lines have been written between teardrops. 042522PSCtest, A Mother's Love, Tributes of Love for Mother's Day. BJ Legros Kelley.1P
