Easter For the Little One
Little one I know you can't wait for Easter,                       you want candy eggs and the big stuffed bunny.               We need to get cards to give out,                                     a new pretty spring outfit to wear.                                   Easter is much more than this,                                         it is about a man but not just any man.                           This all happened many years ago,                                   long before you were even born.                                     This very special man is the son of God,                           He lived on the earth just like we do.                             He performed many miracles,                                         healed the sick~the blind~turned water to wine~multiplied bread-fish.             His friends turned against Him,                                       one even sold Him for a few pieces of silver.                     They placed a crown for thorns upon His head,                 it should have been a crown of fine jewels instead.           Then they nailed Him to a cross,                                   for the world to see.                                                       They buried him,                                                           three days later He arose.                                               He died for you and for me,                                             He took on our sins to set us free.                                   Little one I know you can't wait for Easter,         it will be here in a few days.                                           It is not about candy eggs or big stuffed bunnies,             it is about Jesus the King of Israel.      Date Written: 3/24/2022 7 Place Easter Poetry Contest Sponsored by: Regina McIntosh
