Easter of Desserts
Ruminating on the events over two-thousand years ago: the life, suffering, death, burial of Jesus, and the exciting, dramatic, and supernatural arousal of Christ, incarnate - from death to life, of the imputation - his sacrifice. Jesus is the Dayspring on high. Did he walk out of the grave in synch with sunrise? Only the grave-guards would know. Those wholesome and muscular angels showed up and off, wheeling away the stone from the cave after the guards passed-out cold from arrant fear of their size, of the light, of their goodness…yes, their goodness not to trifle about - it’s their strength. Did those angels unwind our Lord from his grave clothes, hand him his brand new heavenly robe? Then did they neatly iron and fold his garments to (giggle) be found by women and men. Were they tickled pink at the thought of mankind’s excitement (being impressed, themselves)? He walked out of the grave, not a slave to this fallen world, but a victor. He first engaged Mary Magdalene for he had healed her of demonic possession. Jesus reassured her and made her day. Oh how her heart must have leapt! Did it leap with tears, relief, joy! Our Lord turns mourning into joy - yes, he does! Jesus fully healed yet with the understanding of man’s suffering, would engage publicly and privately his own. Easter of desserts, most satisfyingly fills our greatest need on earth - not with colored eggs, bonnets, the fatted calf, but with life itself - Jesus is a free gift to those who would incline their ears to the bread of life, the living water, the Great Shepherd, our only hope! 3/24/2022 Contest EASTER FREE VERSE Sponsor: Regina McIntosh Luke 24:6-7 (The angels spoke) He (Jesus) is not here; He has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: “The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised again. “ Portions from John 20…but Mary stood outside the tomb crying… “Woman, why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for? …Jesus said to her, “Mary.” …She turned toward him (Jesus) and cried out in Aramaic, “Rabboni!” (teacher) Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us, To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace. Luke 1:78-79 KJV. (Dayspring - sunrise)
