Make America Great
When the colonists felt that with the king of Great Britain they could no longer reason, Their leaders signed the Declaration of Independence, though they knew it was treason. Because of their belief in the unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, They were willing to risk their property and lives since the king would not give them redress. America was founded on the principles of equality, liberty, and justice for all. The God who created nature and man was acknowledged by the fledgling nation. Citizens were free to practice their religion without government interference, And the religious influence was respected and allowed to shape public opinion. With such a solid foundation, America had the potential to become great, But because equality did not apply to women, Native Americans, and slaves. The practice of discrimination became embedded in the fabric of our nation, And America missed the opportunity to become great. Our nation became prosperous by exploiting the native population, And importing slaves by the thousands to work on the plantations. Educational institutions sprung up and flourished, Producing the brainpower that was needed to make America a great nation. But economic prosperity alone does not make a nation great. And a vibrant and progressive education system though essential, Failed to make this nation the land of the free and the home of the brave, Because women, slaves, and the native population were not allowed to vote. Discrimination became institutionalized, but the nation continued to thrive, As immigrants came from all over the globe in search of a better life. Each group of immigrants experienced some form of discrimination, But in time they were accepted as part of the fabric of the American nation. The battle was long and hard, but women finally won the right to vote, And America moved a step closer to becoming great. But the racial discrimination against the black population, Continues to blight the land of the free and the home of the brave. Our economic prosperity and military might have made us proud. Meanwhile, we are forsaking God, our moral foundation is eroding, churches are dying, and the education system is declining, And the national budget deficit is astronomically rising. What would it take to make America great? It will take the providences of Almighty God, a strong visionary leader with moral integrity, repentance for the nation’s sins, the full implementation of the principles enshrined in our constitution, rebuilding the education system, cutting the national deficit, reducing the size of government, getting rid of unnecessary laws and regulations, and promoting racial integration. Then we must once and for all end every form of discrimination. The time to end racial discrimination against minorities has come. Because it is only when racial discrimination is finally eradicated, That America can ever realize her potential and truly become great.
