The application to be a psychonaut had been filled out and submitted in my childhood. My thoughts meandered around the brain that paid host to them. Sleeping had been interrupted by discourses exchanged telepathically with the universe. My imagination teemed with exciting possibilities & revelations. Visions replaced the sensory-rich environment I had become accustomed to. Distorted forms, in ethereal planes of existence, populated these dreamscapes. As I got older, I educated myself on a myriad of subjects, with special interest in manipulating these ecstatic and transcendent states I had come to know. Control came through fasting, creating, lucid dreaming, yoga, breathing, meditating. But my aim to replicate the conditions didn't stop there... Medicine...tools...chemicals that proposed there was more to be enlightened about; more to consider. Whether it was a piece of paper, my passport to infinity; an appetizer of magical mycelium before I dined on the spectacle of life, a bitter communion. An array of pleasant and acrid smoke that made my lungs balloon, inflated until I took flight off into the cosmos. The yellow dust, reminiscent of the Egyptians, imparted wisdom of the ancients... All vehicles for self-improvement, tantalizing and life-affirming. With me, on the ready, to give into suggestion. To improve my future by connecting me with remnants of my past.
