The Mustard Field
I sat "alone" in a mustard field, Trying to find my "faith." Is it here, is it there, is it anywhere? My sense of purpose was erased. I lost my need for wonder, I lost what mattered most, My Savior, My Lord, My God, Where are you my Heavenly Host? (Then He whispered, so very gently As the breeze blew warmly by ...) "My daughter, My friend, I tell you, My child, please don't cry, I am here amongst the mustard, I am the clouds high in the sky, I am the rolling thunder, I am the calmness out at sea, But first, I must tell you, I am the "Words" that I shall speak... So leave all on My doorstep All the pain that makes you weep And I shall sort it out for you I promise My life, My love, but knock, before you leave." (And He continued ... ) "I watched you as a baby Crawl upon the floor, I watched you play the piano The pastime I adored. So don't forget, I love you, The day you were conceived It is written in the 'Book of Lambs' I've place upon my knees." (And then, He Commanded!) "Stand-up, amongst the mustard, This Faith, I share with you, It takes but one small seed, To convey my very Truth. Now share this spark of wonder, Brighten the darkest sky, I am the lamppost that will guide you All the days of your life."
