Her Face Was a Puzzle Now
Tanya had one of those open faces The kind that should never play poker Looking at her would be as good as seeing her hand She could never bluff; her feelings were out there. She fell in love with a stranger; he whisked her off. She thought it was going to be a happily ever after. It was an unhappy hell. He was a mean dictator. He took all of her joy and smashed it to smithereens. She learned to never show an emotion on her face. One emotion could earn her a fist in the gut. Another one might cause him to blow up and really hurt her. By the time she came home, her face was a puzzle. We could no longer read it. She was guarded and hyoer-vigilant; totally jumpy. She flinched when we got too close. We feared for her now.
