The Ghost Dog
Tommy swore he heard him whimper his mother said it to be the wind his dad said overactive imagination but I did hear it, here we go again Tommy would put out bowls of water and food his mother would scold him good there is no dog, be quiet his dad suggest a puppy, maybe we should Tommy is not responsible enough I would end up with it's care Tommy should play with kids his age dad would nod his head yes dear One evening sitting on the back porch Tommy threw a stick into the yard suddenly the stick jogging in the air came back to him, his eyes grew large But it did happen I am not lying the stick came back to me by itself the mother sighed in disbelief dad quipped Ghost doggie Ralph Alone at night Tommy would throw the stick and there on the ground it laid he begin to shed tears and drop his head he asked why can't I have a dog to play Suddenly he felt a dog lick his face and he smiled but nothing was there he fell back after hearing a happy yap and a dog was licking his ear He picked him up he felt him true but nothing was in his hands a second lick on his face and a wagging til wagged like air from a fan His mother called him to get ready for bed Tommy ran indoors with the dog by his side in bed he felt the dog snuggle next to him said nothing to his parents all the wise Tommy played with the ghost dog Ralph and he loved the dog with all his soul his mother consented on his birthday a new puppy for Tommy to hold He loved little Snicker a dog he could see and forgot ghost dog Ralph right away his parents were happy to watch them play Tommy now seemed okay One night Snicker seemed to chase a dog but Tommy saw only Snicker at play As he watched he swore he heard two dogs yapping is they ran away A neighbor found Snicker and return him home so happy the family reunited that night Tommy threw a stick it floated back to him, his heart excited Ralph don't steal Snicker from me everyone says your not real anyway You will always be my first dog but now you must go away Go! Go! I don't love you anymore I don't want you you old ghost dog in the wind he heard a whimpering whine Tommy cried and cried for his ghost dog It's been a few years and Snicker has grown Tommy has grown as well but in the still of a calm night something is there something he can still feel Snicker will whine and Tommy hugs him he could never let that dog go One summer night they saw their ghost dog running with a ghost girl fading into the nights after glow
