A Conversation With Walter Mitty
“Azure blue sky dreamer. Where you bound today of mystifying days? Can you hear me through that enigmatic fog? Your Milky Way incarnate hyper trance phase.” “Fellow wonderland adventurer. I’ve been pole vaulting otherworldly golden orb frontiers. As I bounce on a trampoline imagination rules. In cerebral stuntman recess I zap hazardous fears.” “Did you eavesdrop on the universe? Butterfly glide whirlpool phantom surfer channels. Dazzling the ocean pearl-eyed gullible with pure recall academic feats. Brainiac on show for glitz-ridden cryptic quiz game high IQ panels.” “Loyal madcap pilgrim on the brink. I dwell in parabolic quantum leapfrog spaces. Escape hatch antic circus for mere earthlings to explore. How we celebrate outlandishly these spectrum vision wishing well rainbows end places.” “But Walter is naïveté a red-faced sin? Spiral fancy rocket booster heaven’s gate ascent. Reality amended with website genie tool inside the skull. Where spellbound make belief might spur euphoric advent.” “Not everything is fun and games in my diamond palace. I, Walter Mitty, must gravitate to humdrum bland existence. Ashen plot endeavour devoid of colour splash antidote relief. When things fabulous materialise through dogged sheer persistence.” “So, Mitty triumphs, can perforce be swollen tall tale fibs. In real life they could flunk deep scan parameters. Of course such failures often press one further to delusional engagement. Such algebraic flops may corral one into mock diameters. We shall bring some pert disclosure to this chance encounter sprung from never-never land. Before you chase another wanton hall of mirrors figment ponder this. Are you wedded to a chocolate box elation that you constantly seek refuge in? A touch button split second thin air magic wand to palm tree bliss.” “I’m sorely tempted now to offer answers glib yet smart. Put yourself in my shoes and your thought-provoking prompt reveals itself. Vexations that impose themselves as obstacles can’t always be explained. I live in fear of being that huge aspirant marooned upon a shelf. Those blue-magenta super duper capers I need to keep me going. They insulate a drab routine, shield my token psyche from the clutches of a shrink who’d have me certified. On the spot immuniser reverie dispatch to moonbeam paradise. Hallelujah instantaneous transport in a blink for bounty glorified.” (This rhyme poem is based on the James Thurber 1939 short story “The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty.” There have been several filmed adaptations of Thurber’s work one of them as recently as 2013.)
