Mourn My Friend
She said she loved me, And I believed. A broken heart, a hard lesson, That is what I received. She never showed how she felt, There was nothing in her eyes. She kept her secrets and the truth, Hidden behind her disguise. I almost lose it remembering, What we had. All the good memories gone, All that's left is bad. When I looked at her; She was perfect, wasn't she? She was fighting a demon, She never showed to me. I wish I had paid attention, A simple question to ask. I had no idea she was crying Behind her mask. She would come home, I would ask about her day. A woman of few words, She had nothing to say. My body is falling apart, My mind is holding on. I feel like I'm clinging to life, But my body is not strong. I remember she promised me, I will be there for you. I did not know loving me, was so hard to do. I took her for granted, She brought me hope. She said she would be there, Then she cut the rope. For ten years, She lived a lie. Then she was gone, No wave goodbye. Jagged edges from memories, She will be my last. Slicing open the moments, I want to leave in the past. Memories haunt me, My heart will never mend. I'm over my lover, Now I mourn my friend.
