Through All Our Years Together
Through All Our Years Together By Franklin Price 02/10/2022 Through all our years together Was so glad you were my wife I can't imagine otherwise What would have been another life We loved each other equally Satisfaction when we'd mate Sometimes we'd even argue Then one of us capitulate Never left each other angrily I kissed you on your lips at night Said, “I love you”, every morning We never lifted hands to fight We shared most things together But often, when it came to work, You thought that I went overboard, And even, sometimes, was a jerk. I traveled for the business We spent much time, on the phone Although sometimes you doubted, When I was gone, I slept alone. My job took me around the world Never had an outside fling I knew I had the best at home You were my love, who wore my ring. Later on you traveled with me Then, we had our outside fling Went to exciting places To those memories, I cling From the Grand Canal in Venice To the streets of London town At Loch Ness, up in Scotland, Saw the monster going down Went to the Red Light District You know, the one in Amsterdam Just to look and not participate That's who we were, and who I am Motorcycled in South Africa Saw falling snow in Germany Cruised across the wide Atlantic With good friends and you and me Saw the highest tides in all the world The Bay of Fundy was the place Fifty feet from low to high Twice a day. It's quite a race Rode our Harleys on a Posse ride Touching the lower forty-eight Was divided up in two rides For two summers, had a date West of the Mississippi Went to all states, that were there Seven thousand miles in nineteen days Each rode our own, were quite the pair Year two we covered all the East Finished off in Harley Land Got a badge and silver bullet You had to ride to understand Meanwhile, our only daughter Had grown up to give us grands We gave them rides behind us Holding on with tiny hands Now they both are grown up The oldest one is now with child When he's born, we will see him Our life's adventures not so mild You're now looking down from heaven As I write and reminisce When our great grandson's delivered You'll be blowing him kiss. There are more tales that I could tell But for now this is the end You're still with me, though you're gone My wife, my lover and my friend.
