Circumstance
Circumstance By Franklin Price 02/05/2022 When we met, by circumstance, so many years a go, Who would have thought we'd come this far, through all the ebb and flow. I know God had a hand it, when He sent me to that place. Where man would soon walk on the moon, by sending Saturns into space. Was so unreal, was such a deal, being part of history. Had just returned from Vietnam, so much different would this be. Ink barely dried upon the page, my marriage ending in divorce. The vows were torn asunder. I was moving on, of course. I had no special aim in life, but to work so I could play Then you came into the room. My whole world changed that day. The first word that you heard me speak was the “F” profanity You were married to another and were glad it was not me. Your husband was a cheater. My first wife had been the same. To say “I do”, then cheat on you, is not how to play the game Time went by, then you and I, through the powers that would be, Found true love, that we will have, throughout eternity. By that July, up in the sky, Armstrong set foot on the moon; Made a giant leap for mankind. We would also make one soon. Your spouse had gone overboard and had left you for another I, through circumstance, was there, with the shoulder of a brother. We found we had a lot in common; spoke a lot of truth and trust Of morality in marriage, and maybe just a little lust. I asked you if you'd marry me; was a sin to live together I'd be with you, through thick and thin, through calm and stormy weather. You said yes. We said I do; that year, on twenty-one November. Has been over half a century of good times to remember. We fought for you, the last two years. God no longer could refrain He came and lifted you to heaven to relieve you of your pain. Though you were Catholic, I a Baptist, we believe that Jesus died To pave both our ways to Heaven; where God will put me by your side From there we can continue our love throughout eternity I know that it will happen, we'll have to wait awhile to see. Until then I'll have your spirit in my heart, my soul, my mind. You'll be with me in my travels, I'm not leaving you behind. You will always be here with me, to sing the song and dance the dance. It will be because I love you, not by some other circumstance.
