An Open Letter To a Growing Boy
AN OPEN LETTER TO A GROWING BOY Your body soon will tell you it’s time to be a man; Some changes start to happen--it’s all part of God’s plan. Some hair will grow new places, and soon you’ll start to shave; The sex drive will start calling, but, young man, you must be brave. You must learn how to save it for when God says it’s right, And not with girls be parking out in some car some night. You must respect your body, keep your mind pure and clean, Don’t view those dirty movies or read the magazines That display naked bodies and lure you with their lust; Just turn to other places, close your eyes if you must. And there are lots of stories describing intimate scenes That are not good for reading for one who would stay clean. It’s not wrong to be modest, you don’t need to display Your body for some others to look at the wrong way. Be careful when another would want to see or touch; There’s perverts who would want you to bring them thrills and such. Your body is God’s temple, so remember to take care; There are some certain places on which not all should stare. Those places are so special, reserved for future life When God in time allows you to share them with your wife. Her body, too, is special, so keep your hands away And save those intimate moments all for your wedding day. If you unwrap the package of God’s great gift of sex Too soon, you will just spoil it and end up with regrets. There’ll be no blissful moments left for your wedded life If now you go and spoil them and not save them for your wife. The scars you make will stay there though God can still forgive; It’s better just to wait now, live as God says to live. God knew what He was doing when He gave that command, “Do not commit adultery”; He had a holy plan. The union of a woman and man in this embrace Is joy beyond description when in its proper place. Just take it from another who learned, but the hard way, What damage that wrong living can bring in future days. I lived a life not caring, not giving due respects; The things I read and looked at were not God’s view of sex. I let wrong friends allure me and almost ruined all, But just in time God stopped me and saved me from a fall. I’m not proud that I did it, but now God’s using me To warn you of the dangers of living loose and free. You’ll think it’s fun and thrilling while in it you engage, And many friends will tell you this is the natural stage. Those friends will all mislead you and leave you with regrets, And you’ll have marred, abused it, God’s wondrous gift of sex. So, yes, you see the changes but do not change your stand To be pure and clean for Jesus, and you’ll really be a man!
