The Armageddon In the Niger Delta
*THE ARMAGEDDON IN THE SOUTH* Blessed with inestimable reservoirs Countless traps sealing gas yet untouched Seated on wealth beyond its numbers Wealth to sustain their tenth generations Enough to feed the glutton of the deserts Favoured in Powerful wealth and health With the waterways opening to heaven's gate Numbers small enough to form one formidable colony Blessed enough to command the greats of the white skin With youths raging with vigour and force There's a land down the south The Deltans of the great Niger Now sold like slaves to the cruel masters Cowed like slaves of the old ages Given a penny but ripped of fortunes With leaders of greed and weak minds Plotted against their heroes and sold out Caged and poisoned own youths into silence Traded the future of their children for wine Dine with the aliens of the rock cave The one that steam the powerful wheels Now a slave to the one that stick the meats Reminds me of the ancient porridge and birthright story They steal from home and keep with farther neighbours Brought strangers to raid their barns The owner now begs from the burglar to feed his own What a painful irony The land of eroded heritage The steaming yellow skies at night Breaking into the sooty day Floors laced with burnt carbons Air steamed with the flare from alloys pots and pipes The creek machants won't stop their night cooking The fish and the crustaceans lay lifeless on the open waters The ingested crude made them lightweight The once swift sandy beach of the delta Now caked with glue from the spilled crude The crabs no longer burrow the coastlines The estuaries are now the gateway to pollution The mangroves were stripped of their garments Made to dance naked at the rush of the saline wash The swamps reek of dead Pisces and weathered crude Better described as the fart of the angry gods Who will save the South from their devourers Who will rescue their women from the molesters Who is the Messiah of the hopeless children Who will restore the strength of their weak youths Who will bring to justice their leaders Leaders of no vision and mission but ambitions Who will pay the ransom for the abducted destinies Who will cleanse the land from the stench Who will restore the hope to these people Who will flush the swamps and creeks Who will light the dark part and lead the way The South is sick and dying Think of no nightmares in the South The Armageddon already started And the emissary are conquering (CONCEPTUAL FM ?)
