Beauty
Proverbs 31:30 KJV – “Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.” When I was young I yearned to be beautiful I worked and I worked On my makeup and hair Yearning for the beauty That would make me Someone worthy, worthwhile Someone who could smile As time took its toll And I began to grow old There were changes To my heart and soul Changes in what I loved Changes in what I wanted Changes that brought me Assurance that I was A heart filled with true love Love inspired by God The One who I knew as guide The One who I knew Made me worthy, worthwhile During those years Of growing into my spirit I learned what it meant, giving from A place of kindness, feeling From the soul where I know God is alive and in control I was afraid sometimes And I didn’t know grace All the time… sometimes I was living in the darkness And pain and worry haunted me But, with time, and as my heart Found delight in the Lord I realized that when I was young My heart had been caught up in Things that didn’t really matter True beauty, I finally knew Came from a heart that was true To the Creator who would inspire Hope, faith, love, peace and joy Poured from the depths of a soul Who knew Him as Savior And gave Him her entire life To do with as He would Bringing assurance that she was A woman who feared the Lord And one who would always know His love was the answer to her hope For a joy that would assuredly put a glow On, not only her face, but across her Life, her heart and her spirit Across the soul who made her His daughter, His child, His blessed believer!
