Life Is Almost Over
I have written this today to let my family and friends know what's going on in my life. I am deeply saddened by where I am, in it, right now, but am appreciative of the excellent life I have lived to this point. Barbara, my best friend, wife, and lover, is on her death bed. She is being cared for in our home by me and Hospice, with our daughter on the way today. As of now, there is no estimate of when the Lord will come to take her away. When it happens, she will always still be with me and we'll meet again in heaven. You may mourn with me, when it happens, but please celebrate the life we've led until now. It could not have been better. When it happens, I will let you know. Thank you all for your friendship and support... Praise the Lord If you want to contact me, please text or message on Facebook or e-mail. I am not in a very good mood to try to carry on a conversation. I will try to read all the messages, but may not answer them. My friends and family will understand... I hope... God bless everyone Life is Almost Over By Franklin Price 01/16/2022 Life is almost over for my wife and my best friend More than fifty years together, I've often prayed, it would not end She has almost beaten cancer, out of ten, just two are left. She's just tired of fighting. When she leaves, I'll be bereft We discovered she had cancer, just when Covid came our way The treatment made her weaker. She could not go out and play Could not tend to her garden. Plants and flowers were her friends. Could not go out shopping. Covid there for no good ends Did not feel like reading, which she had done for all her life. Could not help around the house. Felt, she no longer, was a wife. I would have gladly traded places and I prayed to make it so But God knows when it's time for all, to end each life we know All of Twenty twenty-one, her lust for life was falling fast She lost her appetite for food. Less than seventy at last No longer could she walk alone, had to be aided by a chair I never cursed the God I love, but for my wife, it wasn't fair On the eve of Twenty twenty-two, she lost her desire to cope. She slept through all of New Year's day. I prayed to God for hope. On January second, to emergency did go I called the number 911, for some help to make it so An ambulance came to get her for the hosp emergency Whatever then was happening, we could not wait to see I followed them in our car, when I arrived, they took me back She had a bad UT infection, and for moisture she was slack They dripped two liters in her, through a tube put in her arm Added liquid antibiotic for infection doing harm Took all of her vitals, said that I could take her home I wheeled her chair out to our car, where we were glad to be alone Monday morning called the doctor to see what I should do She advised I should call Hospice, they are now the ones for you. Called and gave them all the info, said that they'd be becoming out Would advise of what we should do and what Hospice was about. Several came to meet with us, and to help us make a plan A hospital bed was ordered and delivered by a man Several meds were ordered for the symptoms to expect Names and numbers given, for ones, with whom, we should connect All of it delivered by the Wednesday of last week Many nurses and caretakers have come around to take a peek She now is mostly sleeping but her vitals are still sound I pray that she recovers, that she still will be around I'm so glad that she has hospice and, of course, she still has me Recovery doesn't look so good, we'll just have to wait and see We have her bed, with mine beside, I'm not leaving her alone Whenever there's a question, Hospice is right there on the phone They are taking care of everything all I have to do is ask So far, they have exceeded to the rigors of the task The snow outside is falling, it is the first one of the year Pardon me for just a moment, while I shed another tear. I've written this for family and friends, who have helped to make her life. Years, fifty-two, we've been together, there could be no better wife When God comes down to take her, she'll go up to heaven's door I thank Him for the time he's given. I still pray, it can be more. So many of you cared for her, that I could not reach you all Be thankful that you've known her, you don't have to come or call. I don't think that cancer did this, it was a bit of everything We confronted it together, and still wear our wedding rings That's where this all stands for now, death is a part of life We have to face it when it happens, while contending with the strife Barbara said her prayers, each night, to the Lord, when she was able Believed our savior, on the cross, was born in a humble stable I believe this also, and if I may be so bold When I die we'll meet again, on heaven's streets of gold Don't feel sorry for me, We've had so many years. I have many who will help me, but not without some tears.
