Memorable Vacation
SEVEN years after 911, and twelve years before COVID-19, I had a PLAN that I thought would LAND after I sent my wife on her FLIGHT. It was really rather TEMPTING, like LIMPING after losing a FIGHT; but decidedly, I was not SUPERMAN. And I came to UNDERSTAND that I could not. I guess I thought that I was the little engine that could, but later questioned whether or not I really should. One summer, at first without HESITATION, I considered attending three family reunions during one VACATION. I was out of my MIND. I had desire, but there simply was not enough TIME. One reunion in Los Angeles; one in Mississippi; and the third one in Chicago. From Sacramento, my wife flew ahead of me to Mississippi, as I was going to go to the reunion in LA alone. I changed my mind and joined my wife a few days later in Mississippi. My plane flight arrived in Jackson by way of a long layover in Chicago. I arrived in Jackson and rented a car which took me to my wife's family farm some 80 miles away. After the reunion, we visited other family members in Mississippi. We then went to Memphis to visit friends there. We parted with the car in Memphis and boarded a train for Chicago to my Family's reunion. It was a most memorable vacation, one to be treasured. For SURE, the humor of it all is not in the three reunions minus one. I tell you, we found humor in the modes of transportation, the ADVENTURE. Some ventures are FULLY scratched, while others are done SUCCESSFULLY. Fast-paced Air planes, 30 thousand feet off the ground; car, with some sense of control; slow-moving train. Life: a little PAIN; vast amount of CHANGE. 011522PSCtest, My Favorite Vacation In Rhyme, L. Milton Hankins
