Oh One Oh Two Two Oh Two Two
I logged on to Face Book and, when my memories came came up, I saw this poem that I wrote January 2, 2020. I am editing it for January 2, 2022 as I see it. Oh One Oh Two Two Oh Two Two By Franklin Price 01/02/2022 Edited from (Oh One Oh Two Two Oh Two Oh) Oh one oh two two oh two two What should We the People do? The twenties, so far, not so fun In this, our century, twenty-one Years, score and one, are over now. We have arrived, I wonder how The U.S.A.'s been through a lot Are we okay? I think we're not Barely had the century changed When terrorists, who were deranged, Knocked the towers to the ground Came from the middle east, we found There was no country to attack Sources said should be Iraq Saddam Hussein should take the fall Before his weapons killed us all We sent our troops to that far land We killed Saddam and half his band Was not long 'til we would know That this was not the way to go Then we tried another plan Fight terror in Afghanistan To wipe them out, we made a vow And we've been there, 'til almost now. Since then we've had four presidents Not sure that any made much sense Bush believed what he was told He acted wrong but he was bold Then Obama came along He rearranged the same old song History was made, he was not white Leaned to the left and not the right He was a solid democrat Republicans not fine with that Did what they could to block him out His every move would make them shout Made it through eight years of him Cooperation growing dim A man of change was on his way Trump came next, four years to play Was the apprentice, ran for fun When all was said, he was the one The Constitution had its way Electoral College had its say Neither party wanted him Thought he was running on a whim Thought that Trump was just a joke. Yet, touched the minds of heartland folk The long ensconced filled up the swamp They loved the circumstance and pomp The country's heart had lost its beat Resuscitation's no mean feat Clinton won big city vote Trump, deplorables of note When the college was applied The Donald would begin his ride The ax had split the party rail Democrats must make Trump fail Would take some time, but must impeach There was a lesson they must teach Russia must have had a voice Trump their interfering choice The Democrats are socialist Trump had won, and they were pissed The Dems did all, their everything To make him kiss their ass or ring He did not bow down to their work They voted and impeached the jerk. In twenty-twenty Covid came Election year, it changed the game More than should, mailed in their vote Now Biden's captain of the boat Has been the one, almost a year We're much worse off and that is clear All Trump did, he put aside Has put us in a steeper slide That's where we are in this new year The roaring twenties gone from here We must speak up, with rants and raves Our founders rolling in their graves
