Coronavirus
the Covid virus has altered humanity ... laid the world bare ... recovery will take time and the way we live must be altered globally values have transformed and wait for a world-wide reset ~ I have changed so much since the beginning of this pandemic that I am not the same person but a better person has evolved I feel ~ world-wide we must build together stronger expectations, become more resilient, greener together we can build a better planet ... but we need solutions from world leaders it will not be simple ... but we can and we will ~ as I watched on television the horrors of covid 19 and now all the variants something inside of me was born and a new person emerged like a flower ~ reality is the pandemic has made some rich large businesses thriving while small close people lose their jobs, masks mandatory ... children unable to play ... or go to school people died 'alone' ... ~ we are almost there as populations get vaccinated not once, not twice but three times one day societies will mend, modify and revamp with far-reaching plans ... all-embracing ... and to those we think the pandemic was a conspiracy, I say ... tell that to the millions of families grieving deaths and who could not even give their loved ones ... proper funerals oh yes, I am a different person now have found me and weep for those who have died and those struggling to live ~ I find a stillness and beauty in small things and I am able to reach out with love able to look inward ... and I like the new me~ in our fourth lockdown here and it is strict we are told to stay home .. our borders guarded but I have found joy in on-line shopping and zoom visiting and I may never have to go outside again ... (but of course, I want to) as a former nurse I need a routine to follow ... ~ so now, I have a time for writing poetry and a time for art a time to read and a time for research, time for Facebook I have a time to ponder and a time to journal ... ~ my nest has never been so clean and tidy oh yes, I have a routine in place for that too I tend to dust a lot ... and talk to plants have been looking at Mom's old cookbooks found some great recipes to try have decluttered my closets ... and my mind and thank God for my sweet cat to snuggle up with and watch TV or read ~ I have been an introvert all my life always seeking silence- it is a need like breathing air ... now, I let it wrap me in silent wings after this pandemic quietude ... the butterfly in me ... will emerge ~ _____________________ December 30, 2021 I have taken two Covid poems, combined them, added and deleted words to create a new poem, original poems - Looking Inward (05/11/21) reset and reshape (06/17/21) Submitted to the Premier contest, Coronavirus (Covid 19) sponsor, Robert James Liguori, Judged 12/31/2021 Eighth Place
