This Year
EVERY YEAR This year I haven’t asked for much Just silence, A few days to myself To comprehend the future ahead To focus on the inevitable Starting all over again No freedom Until my late 50s Acceptance is a hard pill To swallow This year I haven’t asked for much Just no more fussing A need for good kids At least once Out of the many Days, months, years You’re in my care Please, skip a day And drop the bad act This year I haven’t asked for much Just attention From the one person In the entire world I’m begging and pleading To literally look at me Not as a mother to his kids, But as a wanton woman Someone he truly loves This year I haven’t asked for much Just a sip of wine, and An interesting book by The fireplace A moment to escape into Fiction as I relax A moment to be Stress-free I say this year but what I mean is Could this be a wish for Every. Single. Year?
