The Past
"I'll put teardrops in your eyes" by _Charles Messina Taken from his Book, Segments, Intro ______________________ I live a lot in the past. People tell me so often to just let it go. I know that they mean all the deaths, regrets and hurts that I have experienced. But, how can I as they are all part of me. These experiences both the pain and the joy make me the person I am. So, I use all the sadness and joy of memories- all my emotions to write poetry, and it has became my forte. And I set my poems free to fly like a thousand birds. No telling where they will land. What soul they will touch to bring a tear. I ponder why God gave me this gift of words. But, I embrace the past and the present for they can mingle together and I have the wisdom to know that each experience in life is a lesson. That's what my father said, and is my advice for you . . . snowflakes fall and sway and sparkle beautifully . . . do not fear the storms ______________________ November 23, 2021 Poetry/Haibun/The Past Copyright Protected, ID 11-1409-095-23 All Rights Reserved, 2021, Constance La France Written for the Standard contest, Haibun - With A Message sponsor, Charles Messina, Judged 12/17/2021 First Place
